Shad Soernson

Vice President and Board Member

Shad was raised on a three-generation dairy farm in Oakley, UT. His dad would always tell people that Shad was the people person, not the farmer! Shad graduated from South Summit High School. He started college to become a teacher with the dream of one day being the superintendent of schools. Ultimately, he graduated with a degree in business management and marketing. Shad was the student body president at UVU his senior year. His first management job was at a hotel in Park City. He later attended USU and earned his master’s degree in human resources management and then a doctorate degree from the University of Utah, Dr. Sorenson!

While at USU he started working for the university in continuing education and ended up working as an administrator in higher education for 15 years. Shad was hired as the superintendent for South Summit School District in 2014.  During his tenure, the South Summit Education Foundation was organized, which has now evolved to the Kamas Valley Community Foundation. Being part of this organization is one of his cherished professional and personal experiences.

Shad is currently the president of Deer Meadows Group Enterprises, which includes local businesses such as the Oakley Diner, Ken’s Kash Market, Deer Meadows Landscape, The Meadows featuring Oakley Bakery, Roasting Co. and FiiZ, and Deer Meadows Lodge.  Shad’s greatest source of happiness are his four children and all his extended family members and friends. He is thrilled to be back living in the Kamas Valley amongst so many great people.
